A Day to Remember
Past Simple — irregular verbs. Jess flies from New York to visit Maya. They eat pasta, see Niagara Falls, and buy souvenirs.
📖 Reading: Jess Comes to Toronto
Last month, Jess flew from New York to Toronto to visit Maya. It was her first time in Canada.
Maya went to the airport to meet her. When Jess came through the arrivals gate, Maya immediately saw her — tall, red hair, yellow jacket, exactly as she remembered.
They took a taxi to Maya's apartment. On the way, Jess took photos of the city from the window. "It's so beautiful!" she said.
That evening, they went to an Italian restaurant. Jess ate pasta for the first time in months and said it was the best she ever had. They drank wine and spoke for hours.
The next day, Maya took Jess to Niagara Falls. They got up early and drove there in a rented car. When they saw the falls, Jess stood completely still for a moment.
"I've never seen anything like this," she said quietly.
On the last day, they bought souvenirs and had lunch in a little café. When Jess left for the airport, Maya felt sad but also grateful.
"Come back soon!" said Maya. "I'll always remember this trip," said Jess.
